max and i sneaked away for some after school milkshakes and pumpkin picking today. we lugged and rolled around the biggest ones we could find for him to claim as his own. we broke a few stems and smashed some toes and squealed with pure joy at the baby pumpkin gourd that fit in the palm of our hands. i'm lucky max hasn't started baulking my tendency to run a holiday or seasonal fun into the ground. haha. he's always been my partner in crime with these sorts of things (decorating for christmas weeks and weeks too soon/digging out the great pumpkin charlie brown dvd in july/ dousing the house in paper heart chains come january).
and the plan this year is to cover the porch with an unseemly amount of pumpkins and mums (and hope not a one get smashed).

ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I can't wait to do things like this with my son. He's got TADD (toddler attention deficit) right now, so pumpkin picking would only be fun in theory... But I think we may give it a go, anyway. There's usually some pumpkin picking to be had at our family reunion, which is coming any week now. Yay!
ReplyDeleteOh I love it so. I am the same, I love to decorate for the seasons and the autumn is one of my favourites.
ReplyDeleteI am amazed at some of those pumpkins. I have grown a few this year and wish I had a lovely porch to put them on.
