our 2011 love note


dear 2011,

looking back, you were a planting our feet kind of year...365 days of finding our rhythm and getting into the swing of things. you gave our young start up family beach trips and first stitches...road trips and big cities and fresh garden vegetables...a 6 turned 7 year old and his first dog and first grade.

you were harry potter and fishing, 10 year reunions and carnival cotton candy....air plane rides in the clouds, brazil in our backyard, big birthdays, baseball games, drive ins, ice skating, picture taking. 

you were super moons, leaf collecting, bike riding, kinfolking, carrot hiding, air ballooning, baby-making! 

we are forever indebted to your kindness...and send you off with a million kisses!

katie, matt, little max, and tiny tiny baby (just 1! i had an ultrasound today...no twins. although matt made the technician double check..haha)

i hope all of you have an amazing new years eve and the happiest new year! 
i feel so lucky to have had this little space grow so much this year...to have you all apart of our lives.
thank you for coming everyday...thank you for sharing!

    hi katie. i used to read your blog a lot, then i lost de url and couldnt remember. now i find it again and i am very glad! seems you had a wonderful year, and cant wait to see what is coming up. congrats girl.

    this is a long comment, i apologize in advance but i just have so much to say! i came across your blog at the beginning of may and immediately was so struck by your style and lovely approach to life. i didn't hesitate to read back and learn about your journey and i am so happy i did, you are such a graceful person and i look forward to all of the glimpses into your wonderful life! the strength you've shown in sharing your personal story, there were times when i literally just wanted to hug you and share my own tales. i know we have never met but you've impacted my life in the past year, i'm a young student and i can only hope that my life brings as much joy and beauty as yours. i wish you the very, very best in the new year with your fella and your max and your baby to be!

    When I found out I was pregnant, the thought of twins never popped into my mind. Then when the ultrasound tech said, "That's what I thought I saw." I knew it! Would you have been ok with having twins??

    Have you ever stayed up all night reading a book because it was so good, you just couldn't stop? That's how I feel about your blog. Luckily, it was still early in the a.m. when I found it + your archives. :] At first, the dream-like photos sucked me in (love your style - so timeless), but your words + your story are what will bring me back (so real + poetic).
